Question about amp power wire size

I searched around, but what i am looking for seems to be a little too in-depth for the search function to be able to find it.

I am trying to find out if it is OK to use 8 gauge power wire when it is listed as having 4 gauge power inputs. The amp in question is the Power Acoustik OV2-300; a link will follow if it helps. The amp will be used by a friend of mine on a set of components. The fuse is only 15a, and it will only be providing 70w x 2 @ 4ohms. Seems to me that 8 or even 10 gauge would suffice. But, i would like some advice!

Streetwires.com has a good interactive site to determine power wire requirements. Personally I would go with an 8ga. As evan stated you will not save much on going to 10ga. anyway.

For 15a of current draw you're ok with 10 gauge. If you want to spend a little extra you can go with 8 gauge, but it's not required (depending on the length of the run).

You wont save a lot of money going with 10ga, at most like a dollar or two.

Go to wallmart and buy some of the scosche 8awg that would work good i use it for my 8ga.

so what happens when the upgrade bug bites, tell him to go with 4 gauge,he won't regret it

I would personally go with 4ga, just for head-room later in the feature. They're cheap anyways. You could get some from knukonceptz.com . Would you rather have too little/too small of a wire, or too much/too thick?
