Question about adding 2nd battery...

I'm looking to add a battery in my trunk, most likely a Kinetic HC1400. So all I do is run a power wire from the stock battery up front, to the Kinetik in the trunk, and ground the Kinetic in the trunk area? Basically wiring the batteries in parallel, correct? And will having a 2nd battery put any more strain on my electrical? I will have a 130 amp alt, the BIG-3, and the car is a 2001 Accord 4-banger.

Thanks guys. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

do the big 3 for sure, i just made a thread on this earlier today, guys helped me out a lot, like SPL blazer stated...

if you make a run of wire for your - as well as your + you will notice less of a voltage drop and it will put less strain on your alternator, but unless your goin for pure SPL i don't think this will be necessary

So maybe just upgrade the battery in my engine bay to say, a D34?
since you will be running them in parallel you could look at it like just one big battery, you would need to use a battery isolater to make the battery independent, you could upgrade your front batt if you have the money.

i would put in a high performance alternator, but thats just me, i'm not doing it because i don't plan on having this truck for much longer, so i'm not going to sink the money into things i won't be able to take out

How much power are you going to be running? Kinetik model number is equal to the amount of amplifier watts it supports.

"Adding multiple Kinetik Power Cells to a vehicle will not add extra load on your alternator or lower you voltage in your car like adding ‘wet cell’ batteries will. Due to the low ESR and high voltage of Kinetik Power Cells, your voltage will actually increase. Kinetik Power Cells also charge more efficiently and quickly than a standard ‘wet cell’ battery reducing the stress on your alternator."

http://www.kinetikaudio.com/manuals/khccells.pdf page 8 has a wire diagram

I'd upgrade your stock battery first, something like an Optima Yellow Top, An Odyssey/Stinger batt or even a Kinetik. You want a good deep cycle battery as your main battery and as a secondary battery, if you choose to add one. Upgrading the alt is also a good thing, but after you do the main battery upgrade and the big 3. IF you feel that you still need a second battery after you do the main batt and big 3 then go for it, but try these first cause you might not need the extra battery.
