you really need 0 gauge to have a significant differece, but if you have the 4 ga around and arent using it, you may as well use it.

Not true in the least. That 4ga is going to be plenty for him if he is running only 500W. Way more than enough. He's not drawing anywhere close to the max rated capacity of 4ga, shit barely 1/4 of 0ga, and his alt is not that big either to require more than 4ga. In this case, 0ga would be unnecessary, especially since he already has 4ga laying around.

Unless he plans on upgrading, which wasn't mentioned.

Use the 4 gauge for big three and leave the stock wiring in place. Replace with 1/0 when your ready to upgrade. Gains must be set wrong to have dimming with 500 watts.

Do the 4 g cheapo 4g in short lengths should still be able to transfer enOugh current. Christ that amp should pull 50 a at the highest!!

Thanks guys plan on running the 4g this weekend. He said he's planning on getting a new amp since he has a over set the gain to get it the way he likes...just wondering if he'll be able to save that amp in time lol.

Ah, I missed that. Then yeah 1/0ga would probably be the better option to just do now and get done.
