quality vs quantity

If you have the space, then would 600 bucks worth of lower grade subs (four 15s or more) give you higher spl then two higher grade 15s. The setups would each get about the same about of watts - i know its hard to say and all depends on the setup or the subs but overall?

I would do 2 good subs in a nice enclosure.

Imo, Quality > Quantity.

more woofers NEVER, and i mean NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER +1, will guaruntee you a louder SPL. SPL is almost entirely install dependent, and with your experience(sorry, not going by post count, going by the nature of hte question...) you are going to have more problems with cancellation, install, wiring, lower quality products going with more woofers of less cost.

buy the quality woofers, skip the cheap crap, do a kick *** install and get loud.

displacement of air and canceling are your two main concerns when using multiple woofers. like hoss said, more never is certain to be better.

the place that installed my alternator has a truck with a 12 12's in a wall some pos woofers, half missing dust caps, different brands, my 1 type-r gets ~5-6db louder...

more woofs have the potential to get loud, but its harder to realize that potential.
