quality of mainstream subs?

I would run a type R or an X for the right price... And am still looking for a W7 to pop up cheap I can get my hands on but beside that I dont really care to try anything else just cuz if you live in a town like me you have already heard them all...

My friend had a MTX 9500 15 that hit hard. It got jacked out of his pickup. He decided it was too easy to lose speakers so he installed 2 RF P1 15's in a sealed box that you have to remove the entire interior of the truck to get to the speakers now. They aren't anywhere close to the MTX but he didn't expect them to. They still work OK.

Not always tru.
I understand that but that's why I said usually. There are a lot of cheaper brands out there that are excellent subs but they aren't really mainstream. Like Tc Sounds, Dayton, etc... but when it comes to mainstream subs better quality is usually found at a higher price tag or higher line of the same brand. There are a lot of non mainstream subs I would take anyday over mainstream brands because you can usually get a lot more sub for your money.

Mainstream companies have more overhead and want to maximize profits over anything else.

this guy has a point ^^

to all of us, SA, SSA, OA, AQ, FI, are becoming our mainstream.

id run a kicker amp again for sure, as well as a fosgate, so i dont consider them noob trash.

i consider their amps very nice actually.

thats what im sayin... around here i can get p3s for about $100 a pop 12s, well putting a bunch on some power would be interesting,

that must of been pretty good honestly.

never ran fosgates besides old punch Zs with my first system.

im lookin into Vibe and Fi now though.

Personally Type-R's sound like doodoo, don't lie.
RF T1,T2 line are crappy for what they are honestly. I Honestly would take a P3 over a T2 both for quality and loudness.

Kickers get loud.
i used to run a pair of t2 12s (silve ones) and I actually got them so sound better than the 9500s that i replaced them with. along with this the t2 would hit the lows better, but lacked in the higher bass frequencys(which is ok for me i hate buzzing).

since you can get the p3s relativity cheap think $250 for 2 12s shipped off ebay, I think it is a great well rounded woofer for only being rated at 500rms. and i also am not a big fan of the type r i have installed many, and the big thing about it is that it sounds good through all volume levels.

buy my 13s

where is the line drawn tho from whats mainstream and whats not......mainstream to me is SSA...Sundown...AQ....SS....IA....and so on....
i consider kicker RF JL just noob casual trash
I would define "mainstream" as stuff you can get on crutchfield, Amazon.com, Bestbuy, etc. Could also define as the 10 or 12 brands with the most market share/market penetration.

I love my Soundstream RFW-12, it's an SQ orientated sub but it can turn into a driving hazard if you turn it up all the way.
If the industry has come to a point where Power Accoustic/Soundstream is "SQ" it's a pretty sad day.

should hear 8 15 P3s off 4k
8 of pretty much any 15 will be loud. Look at the kind of builds that were going on 20 years ago (just ammount of power and quaility of woofers). Doesn't make the woofers good, just means that 1200" ^2 of cone area will eject a lot of air.
