quad coil (pics)?

so this tc3 is supposed to be a quad 1.4; but ive never understood why the tinsel leads appear cut on two of the wire inputs:

as you can see it extends across the spider on one but not the other:

I'm on my phone so pics are a little small for me but I agree with you. It looks like someone cut the tinsels to make it a DVC, they couldn't handle the quad coil. Is it salvagable?

Def looks like it was reconed to a svc. since the leads on the spider are sewn in, theres no way that it had more than 1 VC, and they cut the tinsels out. the terminals may still be there, but they don't go to anything.

If it has four sets of terminals it was certainly a quad coil at one point.

If it was reconed, fine, but there are two things that don't make much sense. The first is the fact that they didn't remove the terminals that were no longer being used and the second is why didn't they use a spider with two sets of sewn leads on either the top or bottom spider, instead of presumably having one each of the type you pictured on the top and bottom.

Thats not true, higher end audiobahns have 4 sets of inputs on there DVC subs, assuming other companies may aswell

TC does not use more terminals than necessary, trust me. It was reconed.

so that it would balance. having only one set of sewn in leads could throw the coil just a hair out of alignment
