Good to make that distinction, though, because people will misinterpret that to say that a Q can take a 3kW sine wave for 10-15 minutes.

I was just saying to Scott yesterday that the car audio world is unfortunately packed full of idiots that want to dump every possible watt into a coil and have no idea how to do it.

i remember that too, but even in from shawn flemmings own mouth, he said his dads xxx's sounded better for the first 3 weeks or so, then after the q's fully broke in, he said they sounded better and louder than the xxx's.

not saying this is the case (liking the Q over the xxx) for 90accordman, but obviously it seems the break in helped in forming a second opinion about the drivers.

oh yes. if you can get as loud off of 500 watts as you can with 3kw.. i would go that way, all day, every day

I bought one from another forum member, and according to him, it had only been fed around 1Kw.......Needless to say, I had to send it back for a re-cone, but it worked perfectly fine off of my JL 1000/1. I have to disagree that it can't take more than 800w without taking a crap on ya.

I have had my Q 12's(no options) run off a PCA2000D since last year. I beat on them every day. No issues at all. I don't think build quality blew those subs.

Bigbangtheory mad a comment that he had two Q's die off only 800w. I wanted Q's, are they known for bad build quality?

Anyways.............I ran a 1500rms amp on my old Fi Q and it held up well.
