Hi there, a guy is selling a used 13w7, he wants $300 for it.

Is it a good price? I dont have an amp right now to test it, neither a box so how can I see if its in good conditions? is there a way to find out if the sub works good without an amp? I know what I'm asking is a stupid question probably, but I just wanted to know if I test the the coils with a testre or something like that...

THX in advance...

300 is a **** good deal as the retail for 1000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif i dont know how u could test it without an amp. All i can suggest is look at the sub and make sure everything is in 1 peice. I would just ask hook it up to an amp for u to prove its good.

thats a real good deal, if its in good shape and nothing is wrong. wish i could get a deal like that. like capone said the best way to test is hook it to a amp. if you cant get a amp take it to a local shop maybe maybe they will give help but i wouldnt hold my breath on it.

if I take it to a local shop and hook it up t an amp, its going to be tough to find a box for a 13.5 inch sub, so should I test it free air? how much power could I use to test it free air? how should it sound @ free air @ in room???

THX again..

Build your own lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Give it a low amount of power in free air just to see if it works...

Or, stick an AA battery to the coils, should move em a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

a digital multimeter should work for testing the voie coils.. ide say if u know him just make him understand if it doesnt work u need ur money, if u dont know him, go to a willing shop and test it real quik, or find a buddy with an amp..

If I use two 9v batts, how should I wire the batteries (series? parallel?) also should I test each voice coil @ a time or both of them together? If it moves then the voice coils work?

THX in advance...

well...you can hook the 9v's up either way, but i would try series first...it will double the votage...but it will **** the batts dry quickly if it moves u know the coils are capable of handling like 18w or so lol

Thats pretty funny i didn't know you could move the cone with a AA i just did it on my 8. What would happen if you put the wires directly on the terminals of a car battery? The sub would probly explod right?hahaha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

actually no....its only 12v......so take 12, divide it by the impedence of your sub, and thats your current (in amps). take the current value and multiply it by 12v...thats how much power your sub would be using while hooked up to a 12v...

edit: but keep in mind...with that 12v....in free air, its quite possible to throw the sub to full excursion immediatley...wouldnt consider it good for the sub...

Just depends what sub. It would probably last though because it is not enough current as your house. I would guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
