Because you learn how to design them yourself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifWell alot of people claim that its a waste, but from what I see people share there box designs with freinds or post them on the net, and these are people are complaining that the designs ****. What some dont understand is that his designs are vehicle specific. Thats one of the reasons it takes so long for blueprints. And as far as 600.00 for him to build and ship seams fare concidering what you are getting. UPS will take there money out of that, materials are included as well. I wont pay that cause i have the ability to build my own stuff, but why not pay for a high end box or even design after you spend months or even years buying the equipment that you want?
Yes because then you learn what to do and what not to do. Eventually most of the what not to do's are avoided and box building becomes easier because of experience.Yea but is half the fun building it a 2nd time because you didnt like how it sounded?
Im not talking about actually building the box, Im talking about if your design didnt perform as expected, then you have to rebuild.Yes because then you learn what to do and what not to do. Eventually most of the what not to do's are avoided and box building becomes easier because of experience.
If you want to see the Mecca of speaker construction, head over to DIYaudio.com. Some of the things people can do with wood are simply unbelievable until you see it for yourself.Man, I just checked out his site. That guy has some SERIOUS skills.
Well what I said applies to both design and building. It's not too hard to design boxes. I actually find it fun. I created my own excel sheet with formulas to take all my dimensions, wood thickness, sub displacement, etc. If you can do basic algebra, you can design a box. Idk how to design 4th or 6th order bandpass boxes, but I'm working on it. Ah, good times.Im not talking about actually building the box, Im talking about if your design didnt perform as expected, then you have to rebuild.
Though he knows nothing about acoustics or speakers, my dad is AMAZING with wood. He has been flown all over the country for his staircases that he builds. He is like a god in the Baton Rouge area of La. He did Snoop Dog's staircase in his house that he had in La. LOLIf you want to see the Mecca of speaker construction, head over to DIYaudio.com.
