He is right, the guy just wasn't being smart with his equipment. Either he didn't have a subsonic filter set, or he was just flat-out overdriving his subs...if you are tearing the sub apart mechanically, then there would have been signs of driver distress. A box isn't going to kill a sub, 99.9% of the time when something gets broken it's user error.
