First of all it's an old POS cheap amp that I was just going to free air a woofer with for a few minutes. I didn't even notice what I'd done until I turned the car on and there was no power to the amp. Turned car off, switched wires, started car, no power still. I'm guessing I just killed the amp. Correct?

Correct, or popped the fuse on the power wire, or fuses on the amp (if it has any)

Probably...but check the power wire fuse and the amp fuses..

Checked the amp fuse, was fine. Tried another and nothing. Didn't check the power wire fuse yet.

most amps do have reverse protection diodes. they are supposed to be rated to handle enough current to pop the fuse(s) when hooked up backwards, but often times dont handle it well, or not at all. i've seen many blown and fuse as a strait jumper, instead of a functioning diode, or blow before the fuse, causing damage to the amp, or simply not absorb enough to protect the amp, etc. either way, a fuse should be blown somewhere. check that you get power to it. if it [popps fuses, and it's a junker, then you can find that doide(s) and snip then, if that's the problem. if it's a keeper, or you will sell it to someone later, a new diode is the right thing to do. btw, what amp is it?
