Pushing amp too hard?

I've got a Kicker ZX700.5 with the primary channels bridged down to 2 channel, providing ~200w to my component set, which is 3ohm res. The puppy gets real hot after awhile.

The amp docs specify that it is 4ohm stable when bridged down, but I've heard that these amps can take it. Is anyone here running a comparable setup w/ any problems?

Yea, some amps can handle a lower load than what its rated at. But it can only handle it for so long before it either shuts off, or goes into protection.

Hasn't shut off or gone into protect mode. guess that is a good thing, but some strange smells are coming out of it when I turn it up for extended periods. Maybe just breakin smell???
