That's unfortunate because that is absolutely enough to burn up the coils.  Suit yourself though, perhaps you can convince Sundown to get on board and warranty them above 2K.

If you're using this level of equipment you shouldn't have to ask about power handling.

Thought everybody knew how underrated Sundown subs are. Guess I was wrong. I've seen plenty of people putting 3x the rated power on the X series. Ronnie Smith, the 6.5 guy who happened to stop by Sundown headquarters had a stock 8v.3 into his sniper box and gave it 5k+ before it finally gave in. The 8's are rated for 750w.

And apparently the same nuthuggers who claim a 3" 4 layer aluminum coil can handle 6000W if you put "SUNDOWN" on the dustcap.

Are you offering to warranty OP's subs when he runs a pair on a 10K amp?
