Punch 150HD or Punch P300-1 mono?

I don't know jack about car audio. Have a '99 Accord and was given some new Kenwood KFC-2512s (10" 4-OHM SVC 300w/RMS) subs. I need box and amp.

I have my eyes on Punch 150HD thats never been installed (1991 era?) . And I see a new Punch P 300-1 for about same price. Back in the day I know the Punch 150 was very good and very expensive. Eventually gonna upgrade to better 10s, but for now its all I need.

Which amp would you all suggest and why? I want clean sound and good bass. Running other speakers off of receiver. Thanks!!!!!

If I Know the Punch 150's history, I would choose that, just for "Ole skool" factor and cosmetics...BUT since you claim to not know jack about car audio, The new Punch 300-1 would be advised for it's simplicity of hookup and reliability. How long would that neat little 20 year old Punch 150 run at 1ohm? That 300-1 will be at 2 ohms....the warranty, if purchased through an Authorized Rockford Fosgate Dealer is something to consider as well....tough choice, but look at all angles.

You can do better then fosgate especially for the money. They were tThihe shit in the 90s but now there just overpriced for what you get.

This AQ750 does twice the power, does it cleaner, and is higher quality IMO

^these amps are just on a higher level IMO then there mainstream competitors, especially when were talking about price per clean watt.

At 2ohms it does 500 which is 150wrms more then the p-300 would do, and when you upgrade subs you can wire it down to 1ohm some D4 subs and get 750wrms out of it. Very solid amp

Nice to see southerners in this *****! From louisiana myself. Anyway, my friend is gonna hook up whatever I get. The P 300 isn't but about $125 new with warranty on Ebay. My ex-girlfriend had it in her **** pushing two average Punch 12s. All was bought as package deal few years back.

I don't know about the old RF150. Always wanted one back then. I'm sure there's much better now, just ole school I guess. Same way I'd still have a (old) Jenny McCarthy issue of Playboy before I had a new issue of Playboy with Lindsey Lohan in it. Wait, I do have a '97 Jenny issue around here somewhere. you get my point...

yes i do...I never used the 150, but loved the **** out of a Punch 45HD ....now if you could take one of those 10's or maybe swap them for a good 12 in the right ported box and get that Punch 150 at 4 ohms bridged mono @ 300+ watts...yea...and it is a cleaner amp too.

Its still more then twice the amp and its much better quality. But both will work for your application

Not to mention, if you can find one in NIB Mint condition for for less than 2 bills, u will be putting money in the bank the way Ole skool stuff has been disappearing.

I hear you. Went with RF 150HD. I have a 14 day return money back guaranteed so if its not working, I WILL be GETTING MY MONEY BACK.

Would you go with sealed or ported box for trunk of '99 Accord? Car is clean, no squeaks or rattles and want to keep it that way. Listen to rock & rap/hip-hop. I thought someone told me sealed boxes give you deeper bass, but you need more wattage going to it. Again, I know very little about car audio stuff.
