PSP port vs. PVC

Is there a big difference between using a good flared port like the PSP ports or using pvc and a round over router bit to make your own flared port. I guess my real question is there difference in the amount of flare for DB and sound. I know the reason for a flare is to cut down on port noise and turbulance.
