PS3 price drop!

heh, I figured most people that had a wii were like 40, or 12.
I also sold my 80gb ps3 about a month ago because the prices started to drop on the used ones, so I didn't want all the used value to drop on mine.

What do you think a used one will be going for now?
Wii makes a good second system. I'm 32, I modded mine and tell others I know that have one about it.

well, this is my opinion, but i believe the people who buy a gaming system to just play games and watch movies will always continue to...

Then you have those who will not buy a gaming system unless it can be hacked for hobby projects, etc...

These people will rarely if ever buy games for it. Therefore it is broken down pretty clearly-

1 group will buy games and the system

another group will just buy the system and lots of 3rd party accessories that do not make the manufacturer money back off of the system BUT they still get profit for selling the system.

You do not think it's ironic to my belief that the PS3 is one of the worst selling systems?

No hacky hacky, hellacious priced games and no visually enhanced quality over the 360 which benefits the price difference.

xbox 360, despite it's 1st gen run of over 60% estimated xbox360s to eventually red ring... STILL sold like crazy...

In today's world, people like me are getting smarter and learning how to hack and repair these electronic devices and do not require warranties.

Hell, even n64, snes, gameboy and any other portable system that is cartridge based is easily hacked with a small set of tools and 3rd party accessories.

It's all about which hobbies you like and the people who like hacking devices to further better them will continue to do so.

I helped, not hack, but discover capabilities of the Western Digital TV box that best buy sells that was never known until i started getting down into it thoroughly.

I then created a major document about the box which is hosted on the largest WDTV help site on the net.

It can do more than what it's advertised too now.

Because of my research, requests were made to add support for things that were going to remain impossible by Western digital which were then made possible by a helping hacker who has fluent coding language know-how with linux and released several hacked firmware versions which completed the "hacking term" of the WDTV making it the best media solution box for under $100 in the world!

Since i know and am apart of the hacking scene to a sense in certain fields other than mentioned here, i know how we think and how our hobbies better educate ourselves with technology.

A device that is unhackable is "boring"... i want fun and i'm not spend hundreds of dollars on something i know nothing about.

its the BEST blue ray player on the planet...... $300
no sir, not anymore, not even the best budget blu ray

alot of $299 blu ray players do netflix and pandora

and have better picture quilty, 7.1 analog outputs, and can decode DTS-HD and Dolby Digital True HD. The ps3 can only output PCM via HDMI

What can you do with a modded wii anyways, I'm hoping its more than just ROMs, you can do that with any PC or Xbox
You can dump the games to your pc over your wifi connection, play dvds, roms, and some other stuff. Only thing I cared about was being able to play burned games. All you need to buy to do it is a 2 or 4 gig flash card. I even got it working on the newest 4.1u update. I think most now are version 3.4 out the box. Also has emulators all the way up to PS1. the N64 one does not work though....

and dont anybody turn this into a arguing back and forth thread and tell peiople to kill urself and "i'm an idiot" without justification because it just shows your inability to understand the concept presented to you.

Comparing a ps3 to a computer is a joke...

A computer can do virtually ANYTHING so just cuz it can do somethings a computer can do doesn't replace a computer.

A blu-ray player? what? I don't use blu-ray discs at all because of the price.

Play it smart and stick with moving technology... Memory chips and storage devices, not optical media, is the ONLY way to go. Storage devices transfer rate and price to performance rival any optical disc currently marketed OR pressed for commercial use.

Oh by the way, hehe, that was the whole point of the WDTV box... but that's a whole other topic...

The big three companies make little IF ANY money off of system sales. They make money from software and digital downloads.

Only system you can put another OS onto. PS3 has bluray, Xbox360 does not. Xbox natively displays in 720p, I believe the PS3 does 1080p natively (correct me if im wrong) Also, xb360 and PS3 games are priced the same 59.99 msrp on MOST new releases.

If you want to compare the previous price of the PS3 to the 360, fine let's do that.

XBox 360 - $299, 60 gb hard drive, one wireless controller, headset. The end

PS3 - $399, BluRay (HD movie capability on XB was previously sold seperate), 80gb hard drive (20gb more for you math majors), built in wireless ($100 separately on the xbox), Wireless RECHARGEABLE controller (another 20 if you want rechargeable for xbox). Free online play (50 bucks per year on xbox)

Sure the SONY headset costs 40 bucks, however any Bluetooth headset will work with the PS3

Cheapest system ON THE MARKET, of course it sold. The Wii doesn't market itself towards hardcore gamers, so they won't buy it, and if they can't afford a PS3, what does that leave?

A device that is unhackable is "boring"... i want fun and i'm not spend hundreds of dollars on something i know nothing about.

Well marketing should tell you A LOT about something you are buying.

see my previous post

also, maybe some of you are taking it the wrong way?

I never said or tried to imply "dont get a ps3 because..."

I was simply comparing 2 groups of people who purchase gaming systems in general. I fall into the group that wants to further educate myself in the mass capabilities of a particular device but if i know i can't... i won't buy it.

The ps3 is actually the first gaming system like that which i am still surprised because the dev-kit was leaked over 2 years ago without success.
