well, this is my opinion, but i believe the people who buy a gaming system to just play games and watch movies will always continue to... Then you have those who will not buy a gaming system unless it can be hacked for hobby projects, etc... These people will rarely if ever buy games for it. Therefore it is broken down pretty clearly- 1 group will buy games and the system another group will just buy the system and lots of 3rd party accessories that do not make the manufacturer money back off of the system BUT they still get profit for selling the system. You do not think it's ironic to my belief that the PS3 is one of the worst selling systems? No hacky hacky, hellacious priced games and no visually enhanced quality over the 360 which benefits the price difference. xbox 360, despite it's 1st gen run of over 60% estimated xbox360s to eventually red ring... STILL sold like crazy... In today's world, people like me are getting smarter and learning how to hack and repair these electronic devices and do not require warranties. Hell, even n64, snes, gameboy and any other portable system that is cartridge based is easily hacked with a small set of tools and 3rd party accessories. It's all about which hobbies you like and the people who like hacking devices to further better them will continue to do so. I helped, not hack, but discover capabilities of the Western Digital TV box that best buy sells that was never known until i started getting down into it thoroughly. I then created a major document about the box which is hosted on the largest WDTV help site on the net. It can do more than what it's advertised too now. Because of my research, requests were made to add support for things that were going to remain impossible by Western digital which were then made possible by a helping hacker who has fluent coding language know-how with linux and released several hacked firmware versions which completed the "hacking term" of the WDTV making it the best media solution box for under $100 in the world! Since i know and am apart of the hacking scene to a sense in certain fields other than mentioned here, i know how we think and how our hobbies better educate ourselves with technology. A device that is unhackable is "boring"... i want fun and i'm not spend hundreds of dollars on something i know nothing about.
