Depends on the sub, and stapling it down compresses it in areas making the area where the staples are....useless.A few extra cubes usually doesn't hurt. But staple the polyfill down if you can ;D
If you model a driver in a sealed enclosure of the proper volume to provide .707 and look at the impedance curve, you will see that if you model a smaller enclosure but with fill added to arrive at the same Q of .707, the impedance is smoother in the smaller enclosure containing fill. Not to thread jack, but if I have a sub that maxes out at about 2.5 cubes sealed and I'm at that, I wouldn't want any polyfil, correct?
Some people don't understand the difference between polyfil and batting and when to use each.
I had a 10'' Kicker L5 w/ the ported Kicker box back in high school.........it had the batting stapled all over the inside of it.Some people don't understand the difference between polyfil and batting and when to use each.
here is a website that has everything you need to know about polyfilAlright Im venturing into my SQ build and Im a little concerned. This is my first polyfill use. Ill be using a 1.1 cube sealed enclosure before displacement. The displacement on my Evo TC2+ is .08 cubes. I have 1 pound of polyfill. Ive read that its supposed to be filled loosely and roughly 1 pound per cube up to 1.5 pounds per cube. Issue is I dont even have the whole bag in there yet and its already pretty stuffed so this leads me to my question.
What is the proper way to use Polyfill?
