is it okay to mix and match VC configs?

lets say i have a 4 ohm DVC sub, and the exact same sub but its 2 ohm DVC can i wire them together, OR wire them separately and use both sets of terminals in a mono amp (well i guess thats the same thing)

also is it possible to take like a pair of 2 ohm DVC subs, wire one to 1 ohm and wire the other to 4 ohm?

Yes, it's possible, but you just need to sell some of the ohms on your higher ohm sub. Sell your ohms on ebay, or in the classified section, make a little money, and voila have matching sub.

Different voice coils give you different final configurations, so i dont see how that would work....but im not completely sure

You could if you had two different amps. But otherwise Im not seeing how itd work unless you used resistors (sp?)

Technically it will work, yes. But the subs will receive two different power levels.

In your example with the DVC 2ohm and DVC 4ohm subs.......if you wired one to 1ohm and the other to 2ohm, the sub wired to 1ohm would receive twice as much power as the sub wired to 2ohm. Likewise, if you wired the DVC 2ohm sub to 4ohm, and the DVC 4ohm sub to 2ohm, the first sub would receive half the power of the latter.

how about lets say wiring 2 subs 1 4ohm and 1 2 ohm together in series or parallell. that would just change the ohm load right?

They would still receive different amounts of power, due to their different impedances.

But that doesn't really matter for what he is asking, and it's not that big of a deal.
