Do you think a single baffle will be enough?

You can get away with a double baffle....if you put it on the inside of the first.....it will be smaller than the first as there is no room to do anything more than that.
as far as the rest of the box you can do window style bracing if you wanted too with your scrap pieces.

but in my expierence we built a 6th order for a massive DMX 12 (which is a little bit lighter than this one, but not much) out of single baffle birch and it was rock solid.

Superb, thanks a lot. I'm going to repost the pics just in case you delete them from your photobucket so they are on this build log. But I appreciate it. I think I might do 2 pieces braced up top to bottom with a 2.0" Thick in diameter stick.

heres what i would do instead, as the bottom will be okay and all the top pieces are pretty small.

id use a scrap and do one of those on each side of the sub.....the front is going to be the weakest piece......even saying that, its birch, and its stiffer than you can imagine.
