sup guys. I origonally bought my 18xxx for more of a sq sub but I can't get the spl bug out of my system. so I really want to hit my goal of 150 and I have 1800 rms to play with but the catch is its gotta sound good so no 50hz tunings. my starting point is 8.5 cu ft @ 27 w/ 130 sq in port. I'm also throwing around the TL idea but I think that might be too big. someone steer me in the right direction closer to 150 +/- cause I wasn't to happy with 140

I dont think theres any possible way to hit 150 with 27hz. And you also need more watts on top of that.

well lets start playing with the box. say tune it to 32 Hz make the port/box bigger? cmon people. I wanna get closer to 150 than 140. I'd be happy to hit a 148. hell if my two sx10's could hit 143 with 1800watts in a 3 cu ft box @ 30hz with little ports the 18 should be at least be able to beat that by 3-5 dbs

firing upwards was the plan. I can also wall If need be but I don't wanna wall for one 18 unless I HAVE to

i say put it in a 6th order bandpass ...have the 18 in 4 cubes ported tuned to 27hz with a 90 square inch port

playing into a 4.5 cube ported area tuned to 70hz with 130square inch port

u should get nice and loud with that and still hit the lows very well

box needs to be huge to get a controled freq response altho playing with it id does have a 5db peak around 70hz over a 5 cu ft 36 h ported box

I'm liking what I'm seeing with a 4th and 6th order badpass boxes. I've got to play around to get the best freq response AND more db's. I'm using 8.5 @ 27 w 130 as my bassis for SQ box and a 5.4 @ 36 with 170 inch as my bassis for SQL
