PROJECT INTERIOR OVERHAUL WORKLOG - Black & Bone Two-Tone, Suede, Audio, and MORE!

Must say --- I do this for a living ... Great Job !!
I wouldve done the headliner in Suede too --

But looks killer ..
Yeah, I was going to do the headliner in suede, but it would have been an extra weeks worth of work to get it "just rght". Not that the headliner would have been a challenege, but the sliding cover to the sunroof is nearly impossible to get out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

thats nice work, and is that 2 cans of 3m 90 strength spray i spy. that is some good and strong stuff. r u going to do anything with the seats?
Yep, these puppies go in once everything is hooked up...

A lot of the stuff I have now is leather- I wouldn't be able to do this with leather, correct?
Actually, SEMS makes sprayable dyes that would work perfect for that. It would actually be alot easier than the crap I had to go through prepping and finishing my peices.

Dude, you've got me so interested in this now! I'm painting my car black, not sure if I should go for the bone/black (I love the bone!) or gray/black. Any suggestions/tips? Also, a piece of my door panel, it's plastic or something has a small crack- I'd be sanding/painting it, any suggestions for getting rid of the crack?

Ok, well I can share my "method" with you, which I have refined through MUCH trial and error. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Here are the steps I used:

(1) Sand peice with a 300-grit paper

(2) Wet sand with a 500-grit paper

(3) Apply 1 coat of Duplicolor adhesion promoter

(4) Paint with your desired color. Now, if you just using black, you can use Duplicolor Black Acrylic Enamel, and be done. BUT, if you are using a different color, it gets quite hairy...

(5) Once paint has cured, perform a 1000-grit wetsand

(6) Paint peice with one medium coat of Duplicolor Crystal Clear Acrylic enamel

(7) Wait 30mins

(8) Apply final wetcoat of DCCAE.

...another thing as that, and I cannot stress this enough, KEEP THE PEICE OUT OF THE SUN UNTIL FULLY CURED. Also, make sure you do this on a dry, warm day. Humidity will ruin the peice big time.

Now, for the crack, I would recommend using Rigid Two-Parts PLastic Repair Epoxy. Body filler will pull away from plastic peices over time, this stuff will not. Patch the crack, then sand. Prime the section with Duplicolor Filler Primer (FP101) to fill any holes or sanding marks. Then repeat the steps above.

Just TAKE YOUR TIME. If anything goes wrong, just take a quick 10 minute break and remember, you can always sand it and start all over again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just wanted to thank everyone here for their support and enthusiasm of this project. It really keeps me motivated. So hat's off to you, too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

I should have some more pics up tommorow...as always, I will keep you posted!!!

Man I give you some mad props. I wish I had half of the talent you have and I could apply it to my car. I cant wait to see the finished interior. Also get some pics up of the whole car. Good luck with the rest of the work. Peace! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alright, fellas. I have been up FOR THE PAST +36 HOURS. My work schedule has been ridiculous the past few weeks, and now it is calming down, so I took full advantage of my free day. Ok, let's begin!

Hrmmmm, what's this? Why, it's a cold-cathode! I wonder if it fits...

30%20-%20CCFL%201.jpg

...yep! And now for the wire...

31%20-%20CCFL%202.jpg

Ok, with that in place, it's time to start wiring the doors. I am wiring the LEDs in the door handle (you'll see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) in series, so all four need to be connected to fire up. Suffice to say, the wiring gets a little messy, but fortunatley we can tuck all of that behind the doorpanel.

Ok,now my door is just about done...I need to put the handle in later.

33%20-%20My%20Door.jpg

And a shot of the other rear door...

33%20-%20PassR%20Door.jpg

NOW we can se things really starting to take shape!!!

Ok, time to see how my lights are looking!!!

First we see my FULLY AIMED control switch and the CCFL tucked away. Too bad I did not have the LED wired in the handle yet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
