Yep, just sanded the vinyl with 150 grit paper, wiped down with acetone, then glued and applied.

It's not hard at all, and the faux suede I got is SOOOOOO soft. I purchased samples from a number of different stores, and found the faux stuf to be even softer than ultrasuede! Check it out at distinctivefabric.com. It's only $8.50 for nearly a square yard!
