PROGRESSIVE: In 2004, my car was stolen out of my yard. The thief took everything he wanted and then burned the car. End results, Progressive said my wife and I were involved and did not cover the claim. We had been with them since '96.

GEICO: My wife was rear-ended September 4, 2014. The guy that hit her was insured with Geico. Their final assessment: it would be cheaper to total the vehicle than it would to repair it. About 3 wks later, they cut a check for more than $20k. We've been with GEICO since 2011.

Go with the lizard.

They drew their conclusion from some wild investigation they did throughout the city. They supposedly talked with people in my community. Whom, I don't know. They say that me and my wife's fingerprints where the only one found on the vehicle. (It was our car after all.)

As far as suing, I was young and really didn't know what I could do as far as getting them to cover the vehicle. Didn't have anyone in my corner to tell me better. I've chalked it up as lost and a learning experience. Now, I have a lawyer on speed dial making up for the monies I lost with Progressive.

I use the same local insurance company that my family has used since before I was born. About two years ago I decided to price other insurance companies. Geico, Progressive and a couple more. None of them came close to the rates I pay, all were way higher. And 75% of the time if you file a claim, the owner of the company shows up himself. With a checkbook.

About five years ago, my parents had some storm damage. A tree fell on the corner of the house and ended up landing on a car. Called him at 8:30 am, at 11:00 he was there with a contractor. He cut a check for the car ( totaled) and the contractor was fixing the house the next day.

Geico here as well.

No other company has come close to price I pay per month. (60 more a month was the closest I found).

My buddy was driving my car and was ran off the road by a dbag in a lifted truck. Geico covered it and waived my deductible.

Geico gets my vote, been with them for 14 years.
