$ Profile Prices $

Hey guys, I have a question that has been bugging me for a while. I've done a few searches, but haven't found anything solid, so I figure I'll ask it. Looking at Gauntlet's 1000+ watt amp post, I noticed that the Profile 1200sx was the cheapest on the list. After doing some research, it appears that Profile is a great value brand and most people agree that they put out near the rated power. I found this very interesting because many of the other amps putting out similar power were well into the hundreds of dollars. So, if Profile amps really do put out their rated power, why does everyone spend so much more money to get amps like the JBL 1200.1 that do the same thing? Do Profiles break? Are they not stable to the correct loads? Let me know what you think, any light shed on the subject will be a great help on my next amplifier purchase.

they are great amps.......most people think of profile as a lower quality amp cause of the price.....of course there are better amps out there.....but for the price profile is one of the best for the money.....

options add to the price. the profile wont have as many capabilities as a $1000 amp. profile is very good to get power from. nobody looking to win SQ competitions is going to run a profile amp looking for clean power. Usually....an amp that puts out 600 watts and costs $1000 sounds much much cleaner and very little distortion compared to an amp that puts out the same and costs $100. The profiles do put out power....but not exactly the cleanest power. Dont get me wrong....its not like profile is a bad amp and sends tons of clipped signals...its just not as clean as like a JL Audio amp. to me...unless i need those extra options...the difference in SQ between a $100 amp and a $1000 amp you probably wont be able to tell...and if you can, its barely at all. id go with the profile amp. in fact, once i sell my amp, ill probably get a profile myself.

Ok, but again, what is it about them that makes them a lower quality amp? The way I see it, if the amp puts out the amount of watts that it says, the cheaper the better. I don't understand what makes other amps like JBL's soooo much better.

they arnt a lower quality amp.....they are awesome in my opinion......and i agree w/ u 100% they do exactly what they say they do.....put out the power they say they will......other amps that are better are "better" mainly due to things like how effecient they are and other things......but like i said...they are great amps for the money.....

Oh, all right. So basically, just more options (along with brand name, of course) jack the prices up? It just amazes me that people can spend so much extra money on a sub amp to achieve the same result that a Profile will deliver. Thanks for the help, but I have one more quick question about the Profiles. My current amp has a protection issue that is really gay. Every time I turn up my volume, the whole system shuts off, which is really embarassing. Will these Profiles keep on pumping as my volume goes up?

About 4 years ago, I purchased some Profile California's. They were rounded on the fins, with a red neon in the middle. I haven't seen them in a while. (I cant remember the models). They were the first 'white' colored ones but didnt have any screws on top. They were Profile's first MOSFET amp.

Those amps were amazing. The power was perfect, amp stayed cool, distortion was minimal, and the crossover was perfect.

I agree with everything said. Profile is a great amp for the price. It will give you its true power and not dissapoint you. Other more expensive amps do give you more options and efficiency. You will not be dissapointed by buying a profile amp. Honestly you will not be able to hear much difference in a profile CL1200 or a JBL 1200.1. But the JBL will **** more current. Alot of people won't buy Profile because it is cheaper. They think that it is junk, they say you get what u pay for, well not in Profile's life. It's like Wal-Mart. Just because they sale stuff cheaper than most stores does that mean it is junk??? I dont think so, well granted some stuff is, but when you can buy food or soda cheaper there, does it mean that it is junk? NO!!! All in all Profile is a good investment for getting a lot of bump with a lil budget. Puts me in the same mind as Lanzar. They are two nice brands of amps for a smaller budget.

Ya so make me go for the jl 500/5 cuz the money heheh only kidden..

Hey,

A guy emails me from ebay from a shop (I called the shop). The store is closing and everything must go. He had a memphis belle 5-channel on display which I bought from him for 275 shipped!

He's got other amps if your interested!

Ok, so Profile is a great budget amp solution. I have another brand to question while we're on the subject, though. Power Acoustik. I've heard only good things and they seem to be on par with Profile. I guess the lower lines aren't that great, but I'm speaking of primarily the Goliath line. The OV2-1600 Goliath is the amp that I'm looking at. Heres a link for an ebay listing:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3023111390&category=18796

Let me know whats up with Power Acoustik relative to Profile. Also, if you could compare the Profile Clarus 1200 with this goliath, it would be great. Thanks.

that PA only puts out half the power the Profile does. thats says 1200w max. 600w mono. which means it will put out 600w rms.

Yah thats only putting out 600 rms in mono. Don't ever go by max, max is worthless. I would go with the Profile over the PA. But don't ever go by max, that means diddly squat.
