Profile Amp question....

IM helping a friend start a cheap system, and i knew to check out profile for the amp, but i dont understand what the difference is between AP1040 and HA1040. they look exactly the same but the AP is 30$ more. any ideas? it seems like this is the case with all amps from these 2 series'.

also, has anyone owned a profile before? i know it wont give him the power it claims, but how about over heating issues, and things like that? any real problem there?

thanks,

After reading numerous posts on this forum about Profile amps it seems to go like this...

CL > AP > HA

I believe that I read that the HA line is pretty much garbage and not to both with it, but don't quote me on that.

What is SSA?

im looking at their Website right now, but they dont have the model i was looking at.

i was looking for a 4 channel, and the only one they have is 75 watts, which isnt bad, i just would like 100 RMS or so. although i suppose the 1040 is only a 80 watt, so its basically the same.

I think you meant to ask, "What is SSF?"

SubSonic Filter - It's used to keep your speakers from getting frequencies that are too low for them. It's a crossover setting usually geared for subs so you don't bottom them out by playing notes well below the tuning frequency of your box.

yea, im kinda not paying attention here cuz im in the middle of a class in school. hah. the **** teacher keeps comin by...

i think that 75x4 RMS isnt too shabby for that amp. they get good reviews on crutchfield, and i may get it from them considering they give a 3 year warranty(even though their prices are a rip off).

buy 2 from Profile and use one, and have the other as a spare- will still be less than crutch. Or buy 1 now, and if it toasts, then get a new better one from them in a year. Most amps that will die seem to do it sooner rather than later.

I bought the 4 channel 75w rms amp (AP 640?) and its a great amp. They supposedly put out rated power....so you cant go wrong. And...at that price...how can you beat that?

Steve Lew at profile is great!!! They have great service and good products.

I'm also running a msx 600 for my sub and its a nice enough amp.

exactly, so if your running a sealed box the ssf dont mean crap.

im running two profile amps i got from the online profile store. they work perfectly and wouldnt hesitate for a minute to get another. as a matter of fact i have to get another 50 or 75 x4 amp to push an active 2 way comp setup im doing. you know where ill be buying the amp.........

jgarcia9102, if you see an AMP in their product catalog that you like and it's not being sold in their online store, you can shoot them an email cause chances are they probably have it refurbished. I emailed them when I wanted the CL600 amp and it wasn't listed. The CSR emailed me back with the price and told me that there's a 1 year warranty on it too!

If anyone is interested about the price I was told for the CL600 amp, it was $70 + $12.50 shipping. I think that's an awesome deal for 150 watts RMS x 2 @ 4ohms.
