I dunno, maybe its just me. The stations seem kind of "Dull" and dont seem to have that nice Crisp sound. Its hard to explain, but it seems like if I were to put a meter on it, the top highs and bottom lows are cut off. I guess it doesnt even sound as good as some FM Stations to me. what is wrong? I was under the understanding that it was almost CD quality sound. its more like AM quality sound..

Please help.

XM doesn't use compression, so music like classical will not have as much volume but the clarity should be fine.

I've noticed that not all the recordings they play on xm sound all that great. Every now and then I'll hear what your saying, and it just doesn't sound that crisp.

A few things to consider are:

Are you using a FM modulated unit, you may be off the direct channel a couple tenths.

Is your antenna wires creased? Does the sound quality differ with the engine on/off?

Hope I helped. I'll check back.

I have the xm that hooks up directly to my head unit. so I guess it tunes automatically. I have a glass mount antenna from Terk, I wonder if that is a problem.

It sounds the same with the car on or off.

thanks for your help

ok the deal with satalite radio, either XM or Syris, the satalittles are up and running at full tilt, but the thing with satilte is that they need to build out ground repeaters, kind of like cell towers but they just spread out the signal where it might be a little weak, so they are still in the process of building out the ground repeaters, the huge thing was to get the satalites up there, then build out the ground equipment, it will come dont worry, but it is digital the quality should be far better than radio waves //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

glass mount, ew..

do you have tint on your windows?

also, if you have a pioneer deck, go into Audio conrolls and turn the level of XM up to +4, it will sound a TON better.

Well ....For one i had XM and it was very bad when i had the glass mount antenna ... realyl dont believe that antenna is very good, I switched it out and well hell now the perment. mount antenna works GREAt...NO COMPLAINTs... I wanna say though that Xm Does lack in Quality to Sirius in my mind because it's not all digital quality because some of there music is uplinked from some of clear channel music inc. So if i could give you any advise i would, 1 switch to sirius 2, get diffrent antenna... and another thing ... To the guy that said it might be XM's satelite's NO i know for fact that its not ...I never had worse then CD + quality so my guess its gotta be the Antenna or INSTALLer ! Thanks and hoped i helped!

try the sony or delphi antena i have installed about 40 xm systems i must say i dont like the glass mount at all. too much conflict. you may have metal in your glass or tint that interfers. those new lil "trunk" mounts work extremely well no complaint even from semi truck drivers
