Problems with upper notes on 18" Q

i finally took out my 18" Q because i have been having problems with it. So i decided to play it free air and it seems like the upper notes are very hollow and sound terrible. This happened in the box to. I had it crossed at 80 hz. Any idea why this might be or what i could do to fix it.

ha...funny us 18" Q users all looking for the same thing...a little more bass at higher frequencies...try LPF closer to 90?

same exact thing is happening with my friends 18 Q, its decent in the lower range but in the rock note its alot quieter

at least im not the only one...i cant even really listen to rock songs because of the lack of bass in those frequencies...ive tried everything...smaller box, different HU settings...setting gains correctly....

its not quieter it just sounds like shit and is very hollow not smooth and clean like the lower notes

i totally agree...i dont want a box thats tuned in the upper 30's....and i rather stay ported over sealed....and i know that 18's can do rock music just as well as any other subs when the application is right

zomg run a pair of 12's with it ftmfw!1!!!!!!11!!!1! the 12's for the upper freqs and the 18 for the lower freqs!1!1!1!!

eh his sounds almost as if there isnt a sub at all on alot of rock music, hes tuned to 33 in a 6.4 cube box with 90 sq in port

may maw 15" is the same way as well. seems to lack in the punchy rock bass dept. does great on the lows though.

haha im currently tuned to 32 in 6.5 cubes with 88 sq inches of port and your not kididng...without putting bass way up on my HU you would barely notice there was a sub back there...its almost like the kick drum freq is well beyond my LPF of like 80...itll catch some bass guitar that dips down in the lower freqs

Wow....this seems weird how a sub performs really well on rap but total *** on rock.....I figured 18's would do great on rock

Sub must roll off on the mid/upper freq's VERY quickly. What has FI said about this? I'm assuming someone has contacted them...

Sure hope the 15 I'm throwing in a box tomorrow doesn't sound the same as it'll primarily be playing 80's metal.
