Problems with Pioneer DEH-P8500MP

Recently my hu has decided to shut off anytime the motorized face opens. If I keep it closed I can play cds all day long but any time the face opens it goes dead. None of the buttons work but the cd keeps playing. If I shut the car off and turn it back on it starts working again. I could live with this if I could change the settings w/o having to open the face, so right now its at the default settings which sound terrible. I bought it off ebay almost 2 years ago so unfortunatly no warranty.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

my 960mp is doing the exact same thing,called up a shop today and they said its common for the ribbons to go bad,i'm outta warranty also so i'm gonna try to fix it myself if i can track down the parts

just to let you know,i got mine fixed today,try to find an authorized pioneer repair shop in your city,tell them you need the ribbon that connects to the faceplate,it'll come in a kit along with a new silver outer trim,i got mine today for 25 bucks and installed it myself that way i dont have to send it off,the install sheet on mine said 8600 and 860mp,but its the same one for the 9600 and 960 mp,in all it took about 30 minutes to install start to finish
