HU's comparable to DEH-P960MP

I'm looking to get a high end CD player. The 960 I can get for $325-$350 shipped from E-bay, are there any other units you can think of that are comparable to this for that price? I am looking for high voltage pre-outs (4V+), OEL display, MP3 CD capability, I think that's it. Sorry if this is vague, if you need any more info I would be happy to provide it.

I would take a look at the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X889. I played around with the Kenwood plain version at Best Buy and was VERY please with it. I can't wait to get the Excelon and see what it can do, I have heard so many good things. Also check out the 25th Anniversary editions by Kenwood. I have only owned Pioneer decks and want to venture out and see what else is out there!

I am sure I was no help, but I would also like to see what other people's opinions are!

Thanks for the replies, none of those have the OEL displays though. I was looking at the Eclipse, I like the look of the Pioneer better though. x3 on the 9835 and 8454, but I understand that you want removable faceplate. 960 is a great chioce also. If I were you I would not buy off of ebay unless you are going to get a warranrty, Pioneer has a horrible reputation for pre-outs going bad, always good to have the warranty.

Yeah, I had the preouts go on one of my old ones, I believe the problem has been fixed though? Also, a large part of those complaints were just n00bs who didn't ground the player properly, so the problem was blown out of proportion. Thanks though!

np, I agree that it may be some noobs that caused some problems, but at the same time, there have been problems for pros on this forum with this years models. nope, i had my 960 repaired under a free one time pioneer warranty, because they knew about there screw up (i didn't buy the deck authorized).

Go with an 860. Its alot better looking and the dual faced units such as the 960 still have problems with the ribbon cable that connects the 2. The look is the only thing that is different between the 2.

A good deck to check out is the Clarion 855 or 955. Full of features.

I've owned a 960 for over a year and a half and haven't had one problem yet. I love this unit and the screen, performance, and ease of using this thing is hard to be matched with anything i've seen.
