problems with my zx 1500.1

i was driving home from school today and i noticed my subs sounded like shit and there was barely any bass. i had the volume about 1/3 and i turned it to almost 1/2 and it clicked and shut off. once i got home i checked and fuses seem fine and i checked to make sure i was getting 12v. i unhooked the subs and still in protect. The led flashes from green really fast to red to blank and repeats. ground seems fine to. I have never put the volume past 56 out of 80 with loud off and everything put to 0 on the headunit. I had gain at half way and bass boost at 0 on amp. I have only been using it for about 2 months. Any ideas whats wrong?

 
I think i found out the problem.. the people at kickers technical department say that probably my battery was very close to dieing and i had bad enough voltage drops that it blew out the power supply in the amp.. but i never had any diming or anything.. does this sound like the problem? it was all stock electrical with 90 amp alt. i sent it back to get it repaired under warranty hopefully. This weekend I plan on getting a red top for under the hood and a yellow top in the trunk with big 3 in 1/0 wire. Is there anything i can get that displays my voltage so i can tell if it gets bad again?

He doesn't need a bigger altenator. i have a 80 amp altenator, but i have a yellow top under the hood and a yellow top in the trunk, big 3 and 1/0 guage wiring. He'll be fine with what hes thinking about doing.
