New at this... wiring two amps.

So I just got a system for my car, and I am SO lost on how to wire the power for the amps.

1.) I've heard I could run two 4 guage wires from the battery to the amps, one wire for each amp, both with fuses close to the battery.

2.) I've also heard I could run one 4 gauge wire from the battery, with a fuse close to it, to a distribution block, and then run 8 gauge wire from the distro block to each amp.

3.) And then there has been the other people saying to just run an 8 gauge wire from the battery, then crimp another 8 gauge wire onto it, then put the fuses on it, and connect it to the amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

#2 Sounds like it's the most plausible, but I just want to make sure that I'm running the right gauge wire. I'm going to be running a PG8.0:1 (600w rms @ 2ohms) and a PG4.0:2 (75w rms x2 @ 4ohms), so would the 4 > 8 guage wire be fine for that?

Thanks!

Kyle

PS-

I got an Elemental Design 13Ov.2, and how do I draw the circle to cut out the sub? are there templates I can print out or do I just need to draw it with a compass? There was no template in the box.

Kyle,

You will be safe with the 4 gauge wire. Get at least an ANL 150 watt fuse inline with the battery. If you think you will be adding more power over the 750 RMS you specified, it would be best to run 0 gauge and then split it with distribution blocks into 2 4-gauge wires. Use the same grounding point with 2 4 gauge ground wires for your amp. You can crimp and split your single remote turn on for both amps....

Get some good RCAs and you are good to go... If you can get a better deal on the 4 gauge, run 2 4 gauge wires from the battery, but this will require an extra ANL fuse. I have just 4 gauge from my battery with about 900 RMS and I never dim my lights...

Good Luck
