Which would go best in the trunk of a suv, a 15" Alpine type-r or 12" type-x? I've heard so-so things about the type-r subs but great reviews in terms of quality about the type-x's plus I like the way Alpines hit. The cost isnt really a factor I just dont know anyone who has used Alpines, they use mainly Audiobahn heh. The 15" is obviously bigger with 750RMS but i'm not sure if the 12" at 1000RMs would pack the bigger punch if properly powered both at 4ohms. The MRD-M1005 V12 amp would probably be aside it unless you have any other suggestion. Thanks in advance.

it depends on if you're going for SPL or SQ

For SQ you'd probobly want the type X, ive heard semi-decent things about its SQ capabilities, but many not get as loud. as for SPL the type R will definately get louder, T-CAB it and you'll be golden

I haven't put much time in with my r, but me and my buddy have messed with his x quite a bit. From what I've heard out of them, I'd get the x. Of course the type r is gonna get louder, but the type x will get plenty loud and sound great doing it imo.

1 type x in 2 cubes tuned to 30-32 off of 1k+ watts and it'll pound in a cherokee.

I believe you're asking if the x will be louder because it has a higher power rating. Never look at power as a way to judge how loud something is or can be.

Kind of, I was more wondering about how the overall size effects the sound. I was looking more into the overall loudness factor but I think the upgraded quality of a X would win me over.

no around 1000 should be nice and maybe around 1500 if you want louder
