another thing to add in is that those #s are refuring to a open environment like a bar or outside. When you add in the pressure of the cabin you can listen to higher db levels and it has less efect on the body because your ear is already pressured some. Like when your going down the road with your windows all up yes you have road noise invalved but because your going 70 down the road and the outside air is forced around the car also makes a higher pressure inside the car. SO that is why they say 90dbs and such and why when you realise how loud a jet is outside compaired to lets put the jet into a garage and see how much louder it would be. Lower tones you won't be able to take as much before it hurts because it is making your ear flex more just like the pannels in the vehicle will move more at the same dbs so depends usual driving listening to rap I would say mid 140s though.
