alright i helped my friend hook up his system. it consists of a mtx amp 100x2 or something like that. the subs are polk gnx. alright after it was hooked up we started the car turned on the radio and the subs just flap back and forth no sound really. gains and bass all the way down all connections r right double and trippeled checked. is the amp bad or are the subs screwed in some way?

If the subsd are moving and there is no sound just vibration you probibly have one of the subs out of phase with the other. Check all the connections with the positive and negative speaker wires on the subs and the amp.

check that ur sub connection is fine.

not really sure what u mean. if i understood u, u said that they just move but no sound? hmmm, once they get moving they will sound. but if u think that something is wrong, then i guess u can do what berry47 said.

even if u turn the gain a bit higher there's no sound?

ok they just move. when the music plays they just go back and forth really fast. we changed amps today put a $60 sherwood amp on the setup and worked fine. but with the mtx there is no bass just a high pitched sound and flap really fast. checked connections positive to positive and negitive to negitive. is the input board fried if so what happened?
