Prevolts on the Eclipse 3434

2.7volts.....with 330ohms of impedence, so says the owners manual

**** just 2.7 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

makes me thought about saving up for the 5444 instead of the 3434 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

oh well, its all good, wasn't planning to even buy an eclipse...

was going for an alpine but the one i wanted sold out so i got an eclipse and couldn't be any happier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No. I have it and in my manual it sates 5v and 55ohms. But I've been told it's actually 3v since it's a series 3 model and has 100ohms.

that's for the 5444 (or 5434 whichever number is correct)

I found "* High-Voltage (2.7V) & Low-Impedance (330) Output"

Off a listing at ebay, not even the Eclipse site goes indepth....hmpt

I checked out their other decks

"High Preamp Output Voltage

The CD8454 circuits deliver a very high preamp output of 8 volts to help lower system noise and increase system dynamics since the power amplification stage can be driven optimally. The output signal’s low impedance of 55 ohms is also electrically ideal for audio signal transfer."

How significant will a higher prevolt output lower system noise?

-this is just an idea-

Just for the example, 4v will resist the noise 25%, and 8v 50% since 8v is double that of 4v...?

non-shielded wires (00% reduction of noise) --- I would imagine double that of a 4v output in theory? (lets say 4v reduces the noise 25%, 8v will reduce it to 50%??)

well-shielded wires (75% reduction of noise) --- 6.25% improvement in theory (4v adds an addition 6.25% reduction while the 8v offers 12.5%...??)

I know this is incorrect because everything isn't perfect, but realistically what would be the outcome?

*I am thinking of how ohms work, and when you put a 2ohm load on an amp, the wattage (if the amp was perfect) would be double that of a 4ohm load.*

I'm just wondering how well a 4v preout reduces/resist noise, and how well an 8v would...

Any ideas?

PWNED

Mines 5v @ 55ohm.....thus the 5423....the 8443/8454/8053/8051/8052 all have 8 volt pre outs. The 3404/3414/3424/3434 all have 2.7 volt pre outs.

The main reason as to why the cd3434 sounds so clean has alot to do with the fact that it doesn't have dsp functions or other bells and whistles to worry about- just signal transfer and its basic functions- an example on how less is more, in this application.....

you guys give pre out voltage WAY to much consideration. 2.7 and up is fine unless you dont know how to install or your installer doesnt follow the basic rules and doesnt know how to get it out if some appears. we are still talking .1's of a percent in distortion .

In order to answer your question, I would need to know what model (e.g. SW4200, SW7524DVC). Also, are you looking to make a ported box or sealed?
