at my local casey's store they have their "premium" gas 10 cents or so cheaper than the regular. it's a 89 octane compared to the more expensive one which is 87 octane. would the 89 one be alright to run in my eclipse which calls for premium gas only?

luckily i only put in 3 gals or so. only reason i went to caseys is cause they're only place that would currently take my check lol.

I'm pretty sure you aren't going to ruin your car using regular gas.. lol..
well your pretty wrong. Running cars that are designed to run on higher octane fuels can cause major issues in the long run. Sure a half a tank isnt going to hurt it, but running the lower octane fuel could cause incomplete combustion and detonation, i think.

Then why don't all cars need to run on higher octane gas?

Alright.. I gues that makes sense..

Just from what I've heard.. Higher octane fuels will give you more efficiency, like you will get the most horse power out your engine.

only if the car is designed for higher octane fuel... running it in a car designed for regular will not increase power or efficiency

truth, but i always want to try the 89 octane in my car even tho its not designed for it, it could help you never know til you try //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My car performs considerably worse when running premium vs regular.

There really isnt much difference between 87 and 89 octane A little extra ethanol and thats about it. Depending on where you live, and whichever one is cheaper, that is the one I would recommend.
