Prefab boxes good at all?

Tommorow im recieving my PB 12"s from thedukey42 on here and im wondering if i can pick up one of the cheap prefab 25$ boxes from work and be fine with it. How much output would i actually lose with a cheap prefab sealed box vs a subs up ports back box built by myself? Last time i had a set of 12"s sealed in a prefab box i liked the overall response of them how they played all frequencies well, so i may go sealed again just because im lazy. Eventually im gonna do them in 4 cubes @35hz, probably next weekend, but i wanna play them a bit before then. What do you guys think? i went from a 30 dollar pre fab sealed to a ported box from a guy on here and its like day and night.

Sealed boxes are pretty general. As long as a sealed box is built well and matches up nicely with your sub, it would work okay.

As for ported boxes, they are pretty much a waste of time, unless you get lucky and find one decently tuned.

The sealed pre fabs are hit or miss. Some are nice, some are really shitty.

If it uses 3/4" MDF, and is solidly constructed (a little FG resin on the inside wouldn't hurt either), I don't see a down side. Heck a lot of the pre fabs are sold so **** cheap it would probably cost you more in materials to do it your self.

You cant really go wrong with prefab sealed boxes.

I got a sonic sub box from sonicelectronix.com

Was only 19 bucks and built very well. Solid construction.

Well, my real dilemma is whether or not to buy the prefab box (basically the same cost as 1 sheet of 3/4 mdf) or go to HD and buy all the materials and do it myself.

Actually now that i see the box, im gonna go and build one myself tommorow. Screw that prefab shit. I was thinking it was a different one than it actually is. Ill probably do 3 cubes sealed - facing back for the PB 12"s. Should i do common or seperate chambers?
