Pre outs from amp to amp?

So I phoned jl audio tech support.*

"hi I'm running a 12w7ho with a hd1200. Now I want to add in a g4500 4channel amp for my speakers. I realize how to do everything else, except my h/u only has one set of RCA out the back. And that's for sub out.*

So my question is do I need a h/u*with three sets of RCA jacks on the back ? Or can I get away with two sets or? What's the story on this???*

His response*

" oh no ur good to go with the somy deck you have with one rca. Just connect your sub and amp as usual. Then bump RCA from the hd1200 to channel 1&2 on the g-series amp then flip the little switch tha sums them together.""

K so hats your guys thoughts on this???? Because it seems like my sub works good and my roll bar speakers work good. But my dash speakers are really low. I tried messing with some switches like the 1&2 discrete and the freq(hz) didn't help much.*

Thanks in advance*

the only thing i can think of is to connect one set of rcas from the hu to the main amp. then run another set of rcas to the output on the main amp, to the second amp

OR. run a set of rca Y splitters and run 2 sets of rcas to each amp

Yup that's what I'm doing.. Hook up hd1200 as usual to h/u then Pre outs from hd1200 to channel 1&2 on 4500 and flick the switch to sum the channels together.. In theory this works. Just seems like my dash speakers have minimal sound output. Even though they are connected to channels 1&2

Or you could get an inexpensive half din eq/preamp for like $50 bucks or less and have front/rear/sub outputs with full fad/balance control. I also would check to make sure that all the channels on the g4500 are working properly as well as check those front speakers....
