Pre Amp Voltage

I noticed some amps have a max input voltage of 4 some 5 and others as high as 16 (i think). Is this something to consider when bying an amp?

No.

My present amps have a "maximum input voltage" of 1.5V. I am running an Eclipse 8053 headunit with 8V outputs. Everything is fine.
