Pre Amp Voltage

Yes, it was likely just coincidence.
Your "listening experience" serves as anything but a valid comparison of preout voltages. There were literally thousands of variables...everything from your seating position in the vehicle, to the installation and setup of the systems, the equipment used in the systems, to the vehicle itself. Out of those thousands of variables, it's impossible to conclude that something as insignificant as preout voltage had a contributing hand in the differences you heard.

Especially since we can straight up tell you.....it's not one of the reasons //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would personally go for that Alpine you mentioned, out of those two decks.

I think voltage was a fact that u felt it was more of a SQ system. There is a role with voltage, and it is that it gives cleaner sound. If there wasn't any difference, why would compagnies bother making high Pre-Amp Output voltage? And it isnt a marketing stuff, it really does sound cleaner.. I bet you if you go from a 2volt to an Eclipse's 8volt, you will hear manyyy difference... I suggest you get a decent head unit with Many Tuning options and featuress.. but STILL, get a minimum of 5v head unit IMO. trust me on that one

::shakes head::

also consider the eclipse is low-impedence.

they use the same marketing gimmicks that these stiffening capacitor companies use

also consider that on a lot of alpine and pioneer decks you won't see 4 volts rms anyways

NO, IT DOESN'T

If it did, your stereo would inherently sound "worse" at lower volume levels. When's the last time you heard someone say "Hey man, turn that volume up a little bit more....your sound quality isn't quite there yet, you need a little more preout voltage" ??

Guess what....I did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Went from a Rockford Fosgate RFX-8240 (Denford) to an Eclipse 8053...and frankly, I liked the RFX-8240 more.

get a minimum of 5v head unit IMO. trust me on that one
Please do not listen to this fella. Seriously.

The ONLY time you'll ever get anywhere near those voltages is either at or near FULL VOLUME using constant 0dB material, not music because it has too many peaks/valleys.
With music, I'd be suprised if you'll actually be around 1v.

Thanks once again....Is it true that whether I have a 2 volt or 4 volt, I will only see the full 2 volts or 4 volts at near FULL volume?....Does that mean at half volume with the 2 volt I will see less volts than half volume with the 4 volt?...I doubt I will listen regularly at FULL volume, so it sounds like the voltage is not really that significant when choosing a head unit...?....Thanks.

Only at full volume with a 0db tone. Considering most music has an average level of -6db to -10db....and the fact that the preout voltage is determined by the volume level.....it will be very rare for you to see even 1.5V of output from either deck when playing music at a "normal" level.

so it sounds like the voltage is not really that significant when choosing a head unit...?....Thanks.
Correctomundo !!

This newbie would like to pose a question, would an amp's input voltage be a consideration as well?

no. like mentioned your deck is only putting out maybe 1-2 volts on music, and i don't know of an amp that won't take 2 volt input. i've fed my amp the supposed 8 volts from my eclipse with no problem
