Pre-amp output

This is all new to me, so bare with me.

Does a pre-amp output carry the entire output of the head unit? Meaning, if I have a 4 ch amp, can I plug in 1 pre-amp output to the amp and then drive a separate speaker on each channel of the amp? Also, if the head unit puts out 20 rms watts per channel and the amp puts out 50 rms watts per channel, do you get a total of 70 watts at the speaker, or just the 50 the amp puts out?

Thanks

You can put 1 pre amp output into your four channel amp. You will lose your ability to "fade" sound from front to rear.

Second, no you will not get 70 watts, just the 50 from the amp. That's a question that a lot of people new to this have.
