You're going to love this. I finally talked my friend into upgrading from "Boss" and Dual subs, to a Kicker S12L7 and also a PPI PC2150(rated 600 watts). Well the PC2150 does no less than 1200 actual watts at 4 ohms. Well he isn't the most knowledgable installer and instead of wiring it series to 4 ohms, he wired it paralell at 1 ohm. He nonintentionally bridged the PPI down to 1 ohm and it lasted for three weeks till he fried the sub. It was pushing more than 4000 watts.

The cool thing about this story is that the PPI is still going strong even though its only "stable" at 4 ohms. He blew the heck out of the L7 but the PPI is fine:eek:

That is another reason I love old school PPI:D

any idea what a pc2350 would put out?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Yep, it's hard to beat those Power Class amps. Where did you get those output numbers for a 2150? Hey Matthew did you decide to go with the PPI amps?

Voltage tests, and a sales rep from kicker use to run PPI. He had the 2150's, said the reason my friend blew the L7 was because the PC2150 did 1200+actual watts.(sealed enclosure)

its amazing that a 2150 does 1200@4 ohms, while a 2350 does 1800ish or whatever @4 ohms. they must have really juiced up the 2150's!

If you think about it, they were designed back in the day when competitions went by power classes instead of sub surface area. If you had a PC2150 you were in the 601-1000 watt class since they counted deck wattage too.

So the more power the better. Once you went over a thousand watts it was up for grabs since the only class higher was 1001 watts and up. The 2150 was kind of a cheater amp.
