PPI DCX1000.4 vs Zapco ref 1000.4

I'm really not familiar with the SQ of current PPI's... would it be worth saving $200 and getting a PPI DCX1000.4 rather than the Zapco ref 1000.4... just looking for opionions here, or better yet experience with the two...

current PPI's = DEI

ZAPCO>DEI

however their old stuff should not be overlooked. i had a few of their art series amps and they are rock solid sq. amps. one of the best. the pc series arent that bad either. However i would choose Zapco almost over anything

I know the above... it's just the DCX is half the price and I wasn't sure if the PPI's would be even close to the zappy

Just get a Brax x2400.2

or a LUXMAN CM-4000

or a Pioneer RS-A70x

have you checked for a used zappy on ebay? I sold my ref 1000.4 last summer for $550 shipped on ebay. isnt that how much the dcx is going for brand new?

there is a 1000.4 on there right now approaching $400 and there are 2 PPI's going for ~250 used

**** budgets... anywho, zapco ref 1000.4 is probably the right solution...

zapco's are nice and all but you think they would use some better power imput/output terminals. They use the worst kind, most hated of everyone. Stupid spade plug terminals

Thats my only beef with that amp.

Many consider the Power Class and previous models of PPI amps to be very good. The DCX is considered crap by many....thanks DEI...fuking bastards!! There are other higher power 4 channels that are just as capable than the ones you're looking at. But I don't think you can go wrong with that Reference.
