Hi there...I just resently purchaced two PPI PCX2400 amps....the sales man promoted these amps at 3200 watts at 2ohm stable....and 1600 watts at 4ohm....this being the main reason i bought them...

now when i took them home and read the spec sheet....they only ever talked about the 4 ohm rated power.....

I looked into it more by calling PPI and they said that the sales guy was wrong and i should not run them at 2ohms......

what should i do...i am keeping the amps either way....but dose anyone have any experiece with them...and or have run them as low at 2ohms...

thanks for your help!

I'm not sure who you talked to but look on their site.

Maybe they just don't reccomend running it at 2 ohms. I've got a pcx-440 and I ran it at 2 ohms without any problems. I also hooked it up in reverse once blowing my 150 amp fuse near my battery. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif It welded the ground wire to the connection, but the amp works fine anyway. They seem to be pretty tough, and I'll double check next time for sure.

thanks for your info....the sales guy said that they were so well built that they could handle it...and they were advertizing them in the store for 3200 watts of power...so i was alittle mad that the sales guy was not telling the whole truth.

Not all amps have the ability to run at low ohm loads. It causes too much heat...

Older PPI amps were 1ohm stable. Of course most manufacturers dont want you to run it at 2ohms, but generally, monoblocks can run at 2ohm mono without a problem. They could mean dont send anything lower than 4ohm mono, as 2ch amps bridged see half that (essentially 2ohms).

I had my PCX 250 at two ohm bridge load and it ran perfectly never overheated. For best results use small DC fans one blowing in the amp and one ******* air on the other side keeps em real cool. I have 2 on my Autotek and they only draw like .15 amp's so not very much draw at all from them i have mine ran off the remote wire.
