Powering amp - no adapter, has plug

hi,

been searching like a mad man trying to figure out the answer to this. I bought a chinese 200W, 2 channel motorcycle amplifier from china (ebay) which of course did not include a power adapter or any wiring. I just want to run some wiring to get it working and power some speakers in my rig.

Is there a plug that has a negative and positive ends so i can wire this thing into my car battery? Its a 12v 2A plug i gather.

info appreciated!

That thing could never put out 200w.

to clarify, i dont really care how many watts it is. I just want to wire it into a car battery so i can listen to MP3's. It is a convertible rig so the cheaper the better, dont need any quality components getting stolen.

Just for me to clarify, I'm not trying to put you or your equipment down. I was just saying there's no way it could put out 200 watts.

I'm thinking they meant 20w. 200watts might not be that much, but for 12v at 2 amps it is not possible.
OH I totally understand ecrack. I mean, this is a cheap imported dinky device. it costed 13 bucks, so you get what you pay for! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It really doesn't make sense, you're right BC P=IV, so 200W=12v*16.6A

Im no expert on how amps work but it seems like 2 amps at 12 v is about 24W power....i'll do some research and report back.

Yeah you're right. At maximum it can put out 24w. That's if it's 100% efficient. Since no device made by man is 100% efficient, I'm guessing they added an extra 0 and it really puts out around 20w max.

you could just take it apart and solder some speaker wire where the plug would be, there should be wires coming off the plug. take plug out then solder/shrink wrap and then run wires out the hole whereplug was.

yeah thats what i was thinking.

either that or find the plug (i think its 5mm with 2.5mm inner but not sure) then split the wires and hook it into my battery. ill update this if/when i get it installed.

I did hook the cheap lepai ebay amp up here at home and it seemed to work just fine.
