Powering a Single Type-R

Alright, so I just received a brand new 12" Type-R sub, and now I need an amplifier for it.

Been looking at the Alpine range of amps, more specifically the m450.

Now if the sub is a 1242 with the dual voice coils at 4 ohms, what should I be running it at, 2 ohms or 4 ohms? And ideally what kind of RMS wattage should I be looking at in my amp? 500W?

Any suggestions/info appreciated, I'm not too knowledgable on amplifiers.

I have read through a ton of tutorials and FAQ's but most of those cases deal with powering 2 subs.

You can run anywhere from 500-1200w. If you want to get loud I suggest around 1kw at least and if you give that thing 1kw it will be pretty **** loud.

Running it at 2ohms would be your best bet but there are better amps out there for the money that put out more power.

Do you want to get an amp at a local shop or order online?

Ordering Online for sure. So my options are pretty open. Any suggestions from the wiser peope here? I'm well aware that most every company just makes good and bad products, so fill me in please.
