Powerful enough?

lol dimming is nothing. when i first hooked up my nine.1, the only other amp i had was a 13 yr old kenwood 35x4. only had 4 gauge wire to the back. it would pull enough current to i guess mess with my msd box and throw off the spark or something, because the car would jerk when the bass would hit, even on the interstate at 2k+ rpm. did the big 3 and it helped a lot but still jerked. alternator and battery fixed that, now i just have like 12-12.5v at my normal 750rpm idle. picks up over 14 by 900-950 rpm though.

Yer, if you want a ballpark figure, assume your amp is 70% efficient, if you know the exact value then that is better. But at 2000wrms @ 70% efficiency your power draw is 2800w, i=p/v, therefore i=2800/14.4, or 194 amps!!!!!!! You're gonna need a serious alternator not to mention some serious cabling!!

Though you will quite possibly need an alt, you could always just get a deep cycle battery and do the Big 3, and see if that's enough to cure any dimming.

I run a DLS A6 and DLS A4 which are both class A/B amps (1200RMS, and 400+RMS) off a stock 90 amp alt with only a deep cylce and Big 3, and I get no dimming, unless Im playing a bass CD for an extended period of time. Mostly, my voltage stays up around 14V+.

Where can I get a descent Alt. for a G35 sedan for a good price?
