Power Wiring Question

Hello, sorry if this questions has been asked before.

Is it possible to connect any type of electronic's power to a vehicle's power on a wiring harness connected to an aftermarket stereo? In other words, could I cut and strip the plug wire from a dvd player and hook it up to the wiring harness power wire and then just connect the harness to the aftermarket stereo and the dvd player will turn on when I start the car? If not, can someone please tell me how to connect a dvd player to the car's power without using the cigarette lighter? Thanks.

you can try it that way the worst that will happen is it pops the fuse for the radio if it pops the fuse you will have to re-wire it to another source the fuse popping means the wiring can't handle the load but most likely it will be fine.

You should be able to do that as long as the current is not to much of a draw to pop the fuse or burn the wire out.
