Power wire to fuse size ratio

is there a rule of thumb when running your power wire as to what size fuse to use? I plan on doing the big 3 upgrade with 0 gauge wire, and running 0 gauge to the back. Does my fuse size depend on the size of my wire, or how much power im running. I'm running 3 amps totaling 1800 watts.

Most here will say to fuse to the wires amp capacity, I think 0/1 g is 350 amp for ofc wire.

Goes by how much power your running. Your distrib block should be fused.....or not, some people prefer not to, but that's a risk they are taking. So go by the fuse rating on the amps you have then put those in the distrib block.

Thanks, I know it's not good to run wire smaller than what the manufacturer recommended, but would there be any major issues if I ran a larger wire to the amplifiers and used a 1/0 to 4 gauge reducer to connect to the amplifiers? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

never more than the ampacity of the wire, so 300-350amps for 1/0 ofc, but if you're running less power than the ampacity of the wire its a-ok to fuse lower and probably a good idea. i think 350a is high for 1/0 ofc, you ever felt 1/0 ofc after running a true 350a through it? ever measured the voltage drop? it's a lot

id fuse at 200a-250a

not at all. people do it all the time....even run 2 wires to each input for maximum output.

It's fairly safe to assume a 300a fuse will be good

That's been the standard for 1/0awg ofc wire for a long time in car audio

Won't hurt to fuse at 200-250 though
